6th Annual Omni Youth Musical & Actor Awards Gala April 25, 2008 The 6th Annual Omni Youth Musical & Actor Awards Gala, honoring young dancers, singers, actors, instrumentalists, and comedians, will be held Sunday, May 11.
The honors are given by nonprofit arts school Blackwell International Academy of Performing Arts, which offers musical theatre, ballet, jazz, instruments, orchestra, tap, voice and choral and other classes to low-income and at-risk students in the Los Angeles area.
All proceeds will help fund after-school programs and scholarships in the performing arts for LA area youth, including financially challenged students.
The event will take place at the Skirball Cultural Center, Magnin Theatre, 2701 N. Sepulveda Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Awards will be presented by stars from shows such as Dexter, Brothers & Sisters, Heroes, My Name is Earl, and Days of Our Lives. Musical entertainment will be provided by Omni nominees and LAUSD performers. Guests include Blake Hightower, SG3 , Allison Chu, Sara Swain, Tiffany Espensen, Ashley Marie Arnold, and Kevin Francis.
Cosponsors include Back Stage, LAUSD Beyond the Bell Branch, Oakwood Apartments, and Alliance Limousine Inc. Additional sponsors are Academy Award Winner Lou Gosset Jr., Debra Skelton (Mad TV), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), actor and singer Mandy Moore, Noah Gray-Cabey (Heroes), Jennette McCurdy (iCarly), Rhyon Nicole Brown (Lincoln Heights), Dee Dee Davis (The Bernie Mac Show).
